Anna Tickner-Young, APSW

Anna Tickner-Young is a Certified Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW). She received her Bachelor of Science in psychology and her Master’s in social work, both from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

The field of social work emphasizes systems theory which is based on the idea that behavior is influenced by a variety of factors that work together as a system. Individuals are impacted by their systems. Anna uses systems theory in therapy to look holistically at a client’s conditions and environmental factors to gain a better understanding of why they face issues or hardships.

Anna utilizes a person-centered approach to therapy where clients are viewed as the experts on their own lives and experiences. Anna believes in providing appropriate guidance to clients rather than being in a position of authority. Person-centered therapy is an empathetic and non-judgmental approach to counseling.

Anna has experience working with adults in day treatment and outpatient settings. She specializes in providing support for clients with ADHD, clients with religious trauma, serving LGBTQ+ clients, and providing trauma-informed care.
